Kapitol Group proactively seeks out crucial insights into the future direction of design and construction. This means interrogating the status quo to stay ahead or risk being left behind. In October Kapitol Co-Founders Andrew Deveson and David Caputo attended the bauma 2022 in Munich, the world’s largest construction industry trade fair.
Andrew and David were part of the more than 490,000 people who came from over 200 countries to attend and witness demonstrations from concepts to ready-for-market machinery. For the first time, an innovation hall was established with over 50 start-ups exhibiting their ideas. As Joachim Schmid, of the German Engineering Federation, observed, “The exhibitors are offering solutions to address current challenges related to CO2 neutrality as well as tackling the issue of skilled worker shortages with automation and digitalization. This is the future.”
Automation was the dominant intervention on display and the Kapitol co-founders are determined to lead the integration of these revolutionary technologies in Australian construction.
Some advantages of automation
The next bauma is in 2025 and David and Andrew anticipate that they will see many of the concepts from 2022 fully realised and made available. They are confident that Kapitol will be established as an innovation leader in the Australian construction industry, equipped to adopt the latest technologies on show in Munich.

Some advantages of automation
- Undertake repetitive tasks that are physically taxing
- Increase speed and accuracy
- Reduce waste with fewer mistakes
- Reduce construction costs
- Free up labour to redeploy focus to other tasks
- Counter labour shortages
