During our recent round of interviews for our construction graduate program we decided to try something different—we included a grad on every interview panel.
The reasons were many—firstly to bring a ‘graduate’ perspective to the interviews. The candidates we interviewed could hear from someone their own age who was completing the very program they were applying to join. We were also keen to reduce some of the stress and anxiety that job interviews invoke by having someone relatable involved in the interviews.
We were also genuinely keen to involve our grads in the process of choosing our next round of Kapitol graduates because they have first-hand experience of what behaviours and values are imperative for success.
Hear from our graduate Will Paynter about what he learnt being on our recent round of interview panels for our 2025 graduate program, and his advice on preparing for interviews.
