Last week, Kapitol was proud to be a gold partner of this year's Urbanity conference, run by The Urban Developer. The lessons learned through engaging presentations and networking were truly enlightening, with a resounding focus on ESG principles and the critical topic of embodied carbon reduction on construction sites.
Andrew, our Director took to the stage to discuss the labelling of companies as 'green washing' and looking at the future of Embodied Carbon on our projects:
"A big part of our future workforce is the young workforce. They are not going to work at a place that is part of the problem, and not part of the solution. We are trying to move towards, culturally, for everyone to care about it and make decisions based on it "
Cultivating a culture where everyone genuinely cares and bases decisions on these principles is our path forward here at Kapitol.
Dave, our Director addressed the audience on innovative decarbonisation strategies tailored for the built environment:
"We've never, ever been asked to value manage a solution around trying to change the embodied carbon of a building, never. We are a highly competitive industry, everything we do, we compete. If we want to take it to another level, shouldn't we be out there and challenging thought, challenging to make it a competitive component of a project delivery, to look of value in the sense of ESG."
If we truly aspire to elevate our industry, we want to embrace the challenge of reshaping norms, pushing boundaries, and integrating ESG values as a cornerstone of our project deliveries!
