As part of our commitment to decarbonising our construction processes, we are actively exploring ways to reduce fuel consumption across all activities. Construction often requires equipment with high energy demands, and while alternative energy solutions are available, many do not yet address the specific needs of our industry.
In partnership with Blue Diamond, we are adopting more sustainable energy systems across our projects. This includes replacing traditional diesel generators with the AMPD Entertainer Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The system has been implemented at several of our sites, reducing fuel use and improving environmental outcomes.
At the High Street Preston project, we’ve taken a significant step by operating as a completely fuel-free construction site. Onsite generators have been replaced, and the AMPD Entertainer is now connected to grid power to support all project operations, including two tower cranes.
The system provides a number of benefits: it reduces on-site noise pollution, removes the need for diesel handling, and lowers carbon emissions. In just three months, the AMPD Entertainer has saved 15,250 litres of diesel per month and reduced CO2 emissions by 28 tonnes. As the project progresses and energy demand increases, these savings are expected to grow further.
This initiative forms part of our broader decarbonisation efforts and demonstrates the feasibility of adopting scalable, low-carbon energy solutions in construction. By integrating systems like the AMPD Entertainer, we are taking measurable steps towards more sustainable project delivery.
